Why should I consider hiring a birth doula?

Every family’s reason is a little different, but they all come down to one simple truth:

You deserve continuous support during one of the most important days of your life.

Research has consistently shown that continuous labor support from a doula is associated with:

  • A lower likelihood of certain medical interventions
  • Shorter labors, on average
  • Increased confidence during labor and birth
  • Greater satisfaction with the overall birth experience
  • Improved support for partners and families

But statistics only tell part of the story.

A doula is the one person whose attention remains focused on you throughout your birth journey. While your medical team provides excellent clinical care, I’m there during the in-between moments—the hours of labor, the questions, the uncertainty, the encouragement, the quiet victories, and the moments when you simply need someone to remind you that you’re doing an incredible job.

Whether you envision an unmedicated birth, an epidural, an induction, a VBAC, or a planned Cesarean birth, my goal is never to steer you toward a particular kind of birth.

My goal is to help you have the birth that you want.

That means helping you:

  • Understand your options with evidence-based information
  • Communicate confidently with your medical team
  • Find comfort through proven labor techniques
  • Support and include your partner every step of the way
  • Adapt with confidence if your birth takes an unexpected turn

I’ve learned that birth has a way of writing its own story. We can prepare thoughtfully, but every labor unfolds in its own unique way. My job is to follow you and your birth—not force your birth to follow a script.

Most importantly, I believe every birth is a natural birth. Whether your baby arrives without medication, with an epidural, through an induction, or by Cesarean birth, the measure of a successful birth isn’t how closely it matched a plan. It’s whether you felt heard, respected, informed, and supported throughout the experience.

That’s the kind of care I strive to provide for every family.

Because while you’re busy growing a tiny heart, a brain, a nervous system, and an entirely new human being, you deserve support, too.
