Labor Support

A birth doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to pregnant individuals and their partners before, during, and after childbirth. Their primary role is to support the birthing person and their partner in making informed decisions, advocating for their preferences, and providing continuous support throughout the labor and delivery process.

It’s important to note that a doula is not a medical professional and does not provide medical care or make medical decisions. Instead, we complement the care provided by doctors, midwives, and nurses by offering personalized support and advocacy.

The goal of a birth doula is to enhance the birthing experience, improve emotional well-being, and increase the sense of control and satisfaction during childbirth. Many people find that having a doula present during labor and birth can lead to a more positive and empowering birth experience.

I would love the opportunity to discuss how I can help enhance your birth experience.

I offer emotional support by providing a comforting presence, reassurance, and encouragement. They help create a positive and empowering atmosphere during labor and birth.

Informational Support

I’ll provide evidence-based information about various aspects of childbirth, such as labor positions, pain management options, and interventions. I help individuals make informed decisions that align with their birth preferences.

Physical Support

I will use comfort measures such as massage, counter-pressure, breathing techniques, and positioning to help manage pain and discomfort during labor. They can also assist with relaxation techniques and provide suggestions for laboring positions.

Advocacy

Partner Support

I will also support your partner, offering guidance on how to best assist and comfort during labor. This helps partners feel more confident and involved in the birthing process.
